Bauxite is refined into alumina and then electrolytically reduced into metallic aluminium of 99.7% purity (minimum), known as primary aluminium. This primary aluminium is used as raw materials in aluminium extrusion, rolling, casting and forging; and is commonly available in 3 forms – Ingots, Sows, and T-bars.
Primary aluminium is the most widely used and internationally traded product among aluminium raw materials, and is listed on commodity futures exchange in the world, including the London Metal Exchange (LME).
Primary aluminium grade P1020 futures contracts traded on the LME are the global standard for primary aluminium, and also the benchmark of the quality and prices of aluminium imported to Japan.
We source LME's P1020-standard-aluminium from a broad range of countries including Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, South Africa, Russia, and China, and supply the metals primarily to Japan as well as East Asian and other Southeast Asian countries. |
